The Anderson wedding is my first wedding in the 2016 season! Yeehaw! Can’t believe we are rolling into another year of working with some amazing people. Michael and Madison were no exception. Even the first time meeting the couple I knew their wedding would be nothing short of amazing and it did not disappoint!
The day began at Madison’s home. I always enjoy shooting getting ready/detail shots in a home, especially the couple’s or a family home. Makes the images that much more personal and I ran wild with photographing her wedding details including her great grandmother’s ring and pocket bible given to Madison at birth. So special. The house was full – 10 bridesmaids! But it was warm, inviting and laughter coming from each room!
Winter weddings can pose some difficulty finding areas to shoot outdoors but the Huntington Museum of Art was the perfect backdrop for Madi and her girls. The gray bridesmaid dresses (all unique to the bridesmaid) popped against the modern concrete structure of the museum. It was perfect. Madi, of course, is stunning and the lush greens of the Conservatory was just perfect.
We then met up with Michael and his gentlemen. They were lounging at a hotel downtown before groomsmen photos began. Mike is just a kind, easy-going person and it was great working with him and his 7 groomsmen! We walked the streets downtown on 3rd Avenue; they totally owned it! We stopped for a few quick snapshots and then headed onto the ceremony! Mike and Madi’s ceremony was intimate, personal and emotional held at the historic Frederick building on 4th avenue in Huntington, WV. It was great hearing my pastor lead their ceremony. He does a great job making the wedding personal to each couple. Once the ceremony ended we took a few family portraits and then spent the remaining time photographing the couple! Since it was winter, the sun sets much earlier. It was dark by the time the ceremony ended so we had to be creative during their bride and groom portraits! We shot outdoors in front of the iconic Frederick sign, despite the 20 degree temperature! We also utilized the art deco style interior for the perfect backdrop for the rest of their images!
The reception lasted till midnight and oh was it fun! Lots of dancing and celebrating! We ended the night back outside for a pretty epic sparkler exit, probably one of my favorites to this day! It was just a magical day! Enjoy!
